Three territories, one journey
The town, the land and the walled city do not compete: they follow one another, like movements of the same piece.
Some journeys are built by accumulation: the more places, the better. Not this one. This journey is built by contrast.
First the town: Espita, the plaza, the kitchen, the crafts, the Yucatán lived from within. Then the land: the ring of cenotes, the henequen memory, an architecture that disappears into the vegetation and a time that stretches. And finally the city: the wall of Campeche, the 18th-century courtyards, history still inhabited.
Each territory changes the rhythm of the journey. Each house changes the way of inhabiting it. That is why we say each house is a destination, and together they create the journey: not because they are near one another, but because each one tells what the others cannot.
